The Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Department offers a wide range of support services to provide a free and appropriate education for each individual scholar’s educational needs within the least restrictive environment possible.

Some of the ESS services offered at AMS include, but are not limited to:

Behavior Support-provided for our scholars in need of additional support in areas of daily routines, BIPs (Behavior Intervention Plans), and on-task behavior
Counselling-provided for scholars in need of additional emotional support
English Language Arts-provided for scholars in need of additional support in areas of basic reading skills, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and written expression
Mathematics-provided for scholars in need of additional support in areas of math calculation and math problem solving skills
Occupational Therapy-provided for scholars in need of additional support in areas of fine motor and sensory skills
Physical Therapy-provided for scholars in need of additional support in areas of physical and gross motor skills
Interpersonal/Social Skills-provided for our scholars in need of additional support in areas of daily interactions with peers or staff and transitioning to various school environments.
Speech-provided for our scholars in need of additional support in areas of communication

GRASP (Growth Responsibility and Support Program) Self-Contained

The GRASP program is at the AMS South Mountain Campus. The program is set up to support scholars in need of intensive support services. Scholars enrolled in the GRASP program are provided with support in a self-contained classroom with a smaller teacher-to-scholar ratio to ensure scholars receive the necessary services to help them to grow as individual learners.
