Hi, my name is Dr. Andrea Tee and I’m super excited to announce being the founding principal of AMS Nellis that’s opening where Nevada Prep is currently serving our community.

This year there’s a lot to look forward to and we’ve already got started to a rolling start. We are looking at setting up for a successful school year so that every scholar feels seen, valued, and heard. Some of the things that you can look forward to expecting from me this year is holding your Scholars up to high expectations but not leaving them there alone. We’re also bringing high support and wrapping our community around each of our Scholars. What we know is, it takes a village to ensure that every child has the brightest future possible and that is what we’re going to be working for here at AMS Nellis.

Moving forward, we are focusing on academics as a high priority making sure that we are here, present, and engaged in our school community and that every child feels accepted in a sense of belonging each day they arrive.

A little bit about me, I was born and raised in Austin Texas, moved to South Carolina and spent about 10 years up in the Seattle area and now I have joined the Las Vegas Community here for the last 3 years. I really love the environment and all the resources that are available within this community and the excitement and connection that we feel. Even though it is such a large city, there are close-knit and deeply connected pockets within and I am excited to become a part of the AMS Nellis community in this upcoming year.

My educational background. I went to school to be an early childhood bilingual in English language acquisition development teacher in Austin Texas. Then I ended up teaching High School mathematics in South Carolina and taught every subject area at the middle school level. Then I’ve been a principal or administrator at every level from pre-k all the way up through 12th grade and including down in central office. I have a wealth of experience about what it is that really causes our students to achieve success on a daily basis to know that they are supported and to know that we can create that Community where everybody feels connected, belonging and challenged to achieve their true potential.

In my free time, believe it or not, one of my favorite things to do is to play video games and then do arts and crafts. Being able to connect with joy around not just what we’re learning in school academics but who we are as full people.

I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and your families as well. One of the things that is most important to me as a Principal or a leader of a building is making sure that our families feel that they can walk in and know exactly what’s going on in our school at any point in time. I value highly in an open-door policy so please feel free to let me know your hopes, wishes and dreams for your child and if there’s ever any concerns, we are always open to part partner to make sure that this is a excellent experience across the board.
