AMS Serves is a purposeful initiative which promotes and provides intentional space for service and extends our classrooms into the communities around us.
Our service brings new ties of connectedness to life in communities that have long been neglected, siloed, and under-resourced. Whether our scholars are volunteering in the community or our community is volunteering on our campus, we are united around the central goals of building a thriving & equitable place to live, learn, work, worship, and visit!
Through AMS Serves, the classroom does not end at our doors! With stakeholder input, we strive to connect the themes of our scholar’s daily classwork to their surroundings. In doing so, our scholars are able to process their own agency and engage in critical thinking exercises. Research shows, that with 5 strong adults supporting a child they can transcend even the most adverse of childhoods. By extending the classroom to the community, these strong adults become you!
