In this video, Ms. Gutierrez describes what a typical middle school math day is like at the Academies of Math & Science. She discusses how the students compose their own math questions and their journey to find and defend their answers.
Students begin with three journeys. First, they practice their facts and then perform their math lessons which then test their discoveries.
Middle school math students at AMS are advanced and use Saxon Math along with i-Ready for data-driven instruction in the classroom.
Ms. Gutierrez teaches middle school math at AMS Desert Sky in Phoenix, Arizona.
